The boat nudged up against the reef shelf, and I stepped off barefoot—onto sand no one had touched in what felt like years. An uninhabited island, tucked deep in the Vavaʻu Archipelago. No trails. No buildings. Just the hush of palm fronds and the rhythmic breath of the sea.

The light was filtered, soft as silk. I wandered slowly, every step mindful, every frame deliberate. Tide pools shimmered with coral colors, driftwood twisted like sculpture, and seabirds circled above like silent sentinels.

I found a spot beneath a leaning palm and framed the curve of the island against the turquoise shallows. A moment of absolute stillness—untouched land, wild sea, open sky. I pressed the shutter. Time held its breath.
