The boat engine cut low as we entered the stillness of Phang Nga Bay. Limestone towers rose straight from the water — vertical, weathered, impossibly balanced — as if placed there by a set designer with a dramatic eye.
But this wasn’t a set.
James Bond Island — known locally as Khao Phing Kan — carries its cinematic nickname from The Man with the Golden Gun, yet what strikes you first isn’t the film history. It’s the silence between the cliffs. The way the tide slides across jade water. The way light hits stone and reveals its age in layers.
From a distance, the famous limestone spire looks almost unreal, a prop balanced for effect. Up close, it’s textured and scarred, shaped by wind and sea over millennia.
