The Lost Temple Gate-Ancient Ruins of Ta Prohm, Siem Reap, Cambodia

The jungle does not destroy these temples — it slowly claims them.
I stood quietly in the shade of towering trees as roots thicker than stone wrapped themselves around the ancient walls of Ta Prohm. Here in the Angkor temple complex, time moves differently. Centuries of wind, rain, and jungle growth have turned this place into something almost mythic — where architecture and nature exist in a fragile balance.
Massive silk-cotton trees grip the temple like guardians, their roots flowing over carved sandstone blocks laid nearly 900 years ago during the Khmer Empire. Broken doorways lead to dark chambers where monks once walked and incense once burned.
What struck me most was the silence. No sound but leaves shifting above and the occasional bird echoing through the ruins. Standing here felt less like visiting history and more like discovering it.
This photograph captures that moment — where the jungle and the temple meet, and the past is still very much alive.
