High above the worn stone floors of the Temple of Kom Ombo, the ceiling still speaks—layered in color, symmetry, and belief.
Here, rows of winged deities stretch across the surface in rhythmic repetition, their outstretched wings forming a canopy of protection. These figures are often associated with Horus or the winged solar disk, symbols of divine guardianship watching over the sacred space below. Each set of wings is not just decorative—it is a shield, a barrier between chaos and order, between the mortal world and the divine.
Between the bands of wings, hieroglyphs run like sacred text—names, prayers, invocations—binding the imagery to the gods themselves. The blues still echo the heavens, the reds and ochres the earth and life, all held together in a visual language meant to endure eternity.
